EXPERIENCE ALBANIA OFFROAD
This Albania 4x4 tour book is dedicated to our dear friend Max Buchner, who left us surprisingly, suddenly and far too soon in September 2023. We thank him for the many wonderful hours we spent together in Albania and for what he did for the country as part of his aid deliveries.
Take care Max! We miss you!

Description
Albania Offroad Guide
Off-road in Albania? For this you should first and foremost bring a lot of time with you.
In previous issues we have already described Albania as a real off-road paradise, a dream country for all those who enjoy rough roads. Where else in Europe can you still indulge in this wonderful pastime without restrictions?
Yes, in Albania! Still, even 10 years after the first edition was published.
However, we were already worried at the time whether it would stay that way for much longer. The constant improvement of the road infrastructure in a country that has been isolated for so long naturally does not stop at the tracks there. And in fact, several of the routes we described have had to be removed from this off-road guide since the first version. But despite the constant improvement in road conditions, it has become clear in recent years that there will probably be impassable tracks all over the country for a very long time to come. You just have to look for them and find them.
As already mentioned in previous editions, our target group when compiling the routes for this "handbook" was not the kind of person who is only in their element when sand and dust cover the person behind them or mud and dirt spray meters high, without any consideration for the irritated shepherd on the side of the road. This is now done by the country's own members of various off-road clubs. We would like to introduce our readers to the most scenic and pleasant routes with high discovery potential, and encourage them to explore the country in harmony with gentle tourism, with consideration for nature and the population. Revitalization of the weak regions away from the tourist centers also plays a major role. When we write in this handbook about experiences on impassable routes, we are referring to the term hiking tourism with a vehicle, or "off-road hiking" in its most beautiful form. So we are not presenting any extreme routes here. Protecting the valuable material, respecting the beautiful landscape, culture and, above all, the people who live along the routes we describe are all of the main priorities here.
Other things belong in a different world of off-road driving, namely in terrain designed for it. We want to show you the country from a different perspective, and our 4x4 vehicles are primarily there for our safety.
This current 5th edition of the "Offroad Guide" was revised in winter 2023/2024 based on the latest information and "experience" available to us from 2023, checked in spring 2024 and the now asphalted routes were expanded to include replacement routes. However, we do not guarantee that the routes will still be available in the form described from mid-2024.
In this new, revised and expanded edition of the off-road travel guide for Albania, we present 35 scenic routes across the country, far away from tourism, on 84 pages. Over 200 tempting, meaningful images round off the high-quality A4 brochure. The attentive reader of our piste guide will not only learn a lot of new and informative things about the country or the respective region, he will also be provided with a lot of useful information.
Each tour includes:
Interesting facts about the region
overview map, region, elevation profile
coordinates of the start and end points
Route length and 4x4 share in km
Heights - minimum and maximum as well as height differences
time required, level of difficulty and vehicle category
surface texture, character
Season, highlights along the route and nearby
coordinates of the error points
refueling, shopping, overnight stays, possible parking spaces
General, comprehensive route description
We provide you with a comprehensive range of additional information not only in the off-road guide itself, but also on our homepage.
Since we started traveling in Albania, we have been using a map and a good sense of direction, even on the slopes. However, in order to meet the increasing demand for electronically usable data, there is now an extensive addition to the coordinates mentioned in the book on our website. For each route there is a .gpx and a .kml file available for download, as well as a link to an OSM-based route map.
Any changes to a route that we know about are also stored there.
Additional program for the off-road travel guide via data download on the homepage:
Enlargeable route map with waypoints
Link to an OSM-based route map on the Internet
One .gpx and one .kml data download for the navigation system
There is also a lot of other useful information.
Attention: Access to the data download is granted by authorization using an access code sent by email. On page 1 of the brochure you will find a one-time registration code. Please send this to us informally by email to our email address info@hobo-team.com. After this, returns with refunds or cancellations are no longer possible. For buyers of the digital version, the access code will be communicated along with the password for accessing this version.
For our Amazon customers: Once the access code has been announced, we as the publisher do not authorize any returns.
In the event of a return, Amazon will credit the item, but we reserve the right to issue an invoice and request payment at the same time.
